Rugby

The following sites all contain useful information. If for example you want to find a tennis club to join you could go to the Intosport site, or you need some information on the winter Olympics take a look at the British Olympic Association site.
There’s lots there for you to look at!

Intosport

This is the Nottinghamshire sporting website. It holds details of all the local clubs, training courses and lots more information on sport in the county. If you are looking to do a level one coaching award or a first aid course for example this is the site you need to go to. It is updated every two weeks.

British Olympic Association (BOA)

The BOA are the organisation with the responsibility to develop and protect the Olympic movement in Great Britain, in accordance with the Olympic Charter. Their site has everything you need to know about the Olympic Games as well as several links to other useful sites.

UK Sport

UK Sport works in partnership with the Home Countries and other agencies to drive the development of a world-class high-performance system in the UK. It is hoped that this will result in more winning athletes and greater world-class success. UK Sport is responsible for managing and distributing public investment (£29 million annually) and is a statutory distributor of funds raised by the National Lottery (9.2% of sport allocation).

English Institute of Sport (EIS)

The EIS is a nationwide network of world class support services, designed to foster the talents of our elite athletes. Services are offered from nine regional multi-sport hub sites and an evolving network of satellite centres. High Performance training venues are the platform for success but the EIS is more than mere bricks and mortar. It is about winning hearts and minds. Led by Steve Cram, the former world mile record holder and Olympic medalist, it is a dynamic, pro-active organisation dedicated to realising the potential of the modern competitor.

Sport England

Sport England are the strategic leaders for delivering national programmes and projects to meet Government outcomes and targets. This site has lots of information on these programmes as well as funding, national initiatives and contacts.

Sports Coach UK (SCUK)

As the name suggests this organisation is responsible for developing and delivering national coaching courses such as Coaching Methods and Communication, and Good Practise in Child Protection. The courses they deliver are accredited which means that they are very good things to have on your CV. The courses are aimed at coaches from any sport as the outcomes are relevant to all sports.

Youth Sport Trust (YST)

The mission of the YST is to support the education and development of all young people through physical education (PE) and sport.  They aim to demonstrate ways in which PE and school sport can be used to support the improvement of schools and to build the confidence of young people. Another of their aims is to create opportunities for more young people to participate in high quality PE and school sport. This site contains information on the School Sports Co-ordinator Programme (SSCO), Sports Colleges and the TOPS Programme. The TOPS Programme is based around large bags of equipment and activity cards they may well have used or seen in the past.

British Sport Trust (BST)

The BST aim to develop leadership and organisational skills so the individuals are able to lead and motivate groups within a sporting environment. They aim to do this by training tutors to deliver a series of activities that will improve core skills like communication for example. This site contains information on Community Sport Leaders Award (CSLA). Including; what is involved in the getting the award and how courses can be accessed.

Brain McKenzie Athletics
