During the October half-term, 45 Sixth Formers and staff spent a very pleasant few days on the Costa Brava. We stayed in a 4 star hotel in Lloret de Mar, and were very lucky to have warm, sunny weather throughout our stay.

One morning, a group of us caught a local bus to the nearby market at Blanes,
and on Tuesday we all enjoyed a day in Barcelona. Here, we saw the Sagrada Familia
and visited the huge Nou Camp stadium, where several people bought shirts and souvenirs, and had their photographs taken with the European Cup.

Our boys had two football fixtures against FC Lloret. Unfortunately, they
lost both matches, but there was a good team spirit and all the players
enjoyed the experience of playing a Spanish team.

At the Awards Ceremony on our last night, everyone was given a
momento of the trip. John Marsh and Jonathan Saunders were each
awarded Man of the Match, and the excellent captain, Tom Daniel
(Jiggy to his friends) was Player of the Tour.

Evenings were spent watching football matches and later on, we all headed for the hotel’s Rendez-Vous disco, which became our regular haunt. As well as the dancing, there were some fiercely fought table football matches (with Lawrence Kenning emerging as the real expert!) One of the best things about the trip was the way that everyone got on so well. The two year groups mixed and lots of new friendships were made.
The trip was unanimously declared a huge success.
